Cryotherapy or cold therapy is a fast and effective treatment for the safe removal of unwanted skin imperfections like warts, skin tags, and age spots using extreme cold to freeze and remove abnormal tissue without the need for surgery or anaesthetic. Cosmetic procedures such as skin tag removal, milia and cherry spots are no longer being treated by many NHS doctors and private treatment is now available at our clinic in Cobham by our experienced team.

What is the treatment effective for?
Cryotherapy is an effective, minimally invasive and quick procedure ideal for the treatment of:
- Skin Tags
- Age Spots
- Milia
- Warts
- Sun Damage
- Cherry Spots
- Verrucae

How does it work?
By applying a fine jet of Nitrous Oxide under high pressure it destroys the tissue by freezing the intracellular fluid and destroying the cells. Your clinician will use a precise application held as closely as possible to the treatment area lasting up to 30 seconds depending on the size of the area to be treated. More than one treatment could be required a few weeks apart depending on the area concerned. Our experienced team will be able to assess and guide you through your personal treatment plan during your initial consultation at Health First Systems.

Are there any side effects and is it safe?
As Cryotherapy is minimally invasive it is generally considered a low-risk procedure. The Cryotherapy device is registered by the CE and FDA and allows for precision application of the Nitrous Oxide meaning that the surrounding tissue is not affected.
Side effects from Cryotherapy are usually minimal and our clinicians will determine if you are suitable for the treatment during your consultation, as with any procedure. Everyone is different, but typically side effects can include a slight darkening of the treated skin which can last for several weeks before returning to normal. A slight tingling or stinging sensation or numbing of the affected area during or after treatment which is normal.
On exposed skin areas factor 50 cream must be applied to protect your new skin from any UVA/UVB damage.
